Domestic Violence

The Domestic Violence area of the Family Law Department handles the filing of injunctions for protection against domestic violence. Injunctions for protection against repeat violence, dating violence and sexual violence, for those individuals not covered by the domestic violence injunction, are also filed in this department.

Domestic Violence becomes a criminal offense when the injunction is violated. The Misdemeanor / County Criminal Department handles the court case files involved with the resulting criminal charges.
