Meet Clerk Crist

Hello,

I’m Victor Crist, Hillsborough County’s Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. My goal as Clerk is to ensure that we are providing excellence in our services by meeting the highest standards of efficiency, accuracy and responsiveness.

I bring decades of organizational management and policy experience from working in both public and private sectors to this job of overseeing 700-plus employees, managing the courts’ and county’s records, and controlling funds that exceed $14 billion.

My background includes 10 years as a Florida State Senator and 8 years as a Florida State Representative. During most of that time I served as the legislative lead on justice policy

and funding appropriations. I also chaired the Joint Legislative Committee Task Force that developed and implemented the plan to transition Florida’s courts to a unified, state-funded system, as required by the newly adopted Article V, Revision 7 of the Florida Constitution. In addition, I was elected to 8 years as a Hillsborough County Commissioner, holding key roles, including Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the Tampa Aviation Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hillsborough County Public Transportation Commission.

I graduated with honors from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and minor interests in both Business Administration and Political Science Pre-Law. While still a student, I founded Metropolitan Communications, Inc., an award-winning advertising, marketing, and public relations firm. This entrepreneurial endeavor evolved over the years to serve clients across both nonprofit and for-profit sectors.

Since taking on the responsibilities of Clerk in January 2025, I have led the efforts to reassess our entire operation, focusing on measures to fulfill our constitutional core mission. We are streamlining processes, reorganizing positions, fully clerking our courts, upgrading technology, renegotiating contracts, cutting costs, and implementing a standardized training program based on best practices. We are working diligently to develop an internal culture that fosters employee retention and excellence in service.

I would value your thoughts and suggestions on how we may better serve. We can be reached through the email link below:
